Glamping Adventure

Glamping Adventure

I have been dreaming of going glamping for a very long time and this summer my husband surprised me with a mini getaway for our 4th Wedding Anniversary. It was the most beautiful setting for a couples getaway. It was nice to take a step away from the phones and reconnect with nature.

The tent was adorable and glamorous, and the site had many cute little details. One being the outdoor shower & toilet. It might not seem like the most enjoyable experience to be outside when going to the washroom but it was very unique.

The outside kitchen had everything you would need for the perfect outdoor culinary experience.

I love being able to be with my husband and sit around the fire and connect with what is important. Without having the distraction of all the electronics, we spent our evenings playing board games and cards. It really takes you back to a simpler time. If you have been thinking about glamping I would definitely recommend it.

Mexican Adventure

It was such an amazing trip! 10 days in paradise was not enough. This was our eighth time in Mexico and every time we are there we dream of how we could become permanent vacationers (like in the Ben Stiller movie The Heartbreak Kid). It starts when we first touch down and go immediately outside to the airport bar to have the first sips of the margaritas (which always seem to taste the best). Exploring all the quaint little towns and exploring new beaches was a dream come true. Not to mention all the amazing food…octopus tacos, ceviche, shrimp, fish - it was all so good.

I wanted to share some of my favourite photos from my trip! Share some of your favourite spots and memories from traveling to Mexico!

Can’t wait to plan my next trip!

All You Need is Love and Some Donuts

All You Need is Love and Some Donuts

I had my first experience at a wedding, working with a donut wall this past Fall and it was so much fun!!

When I first sat down with the couple it was one the first things we discussed. We were lucky enough to have a groom that was super handy and was able to construct the wall. Then it was finding a great bakery that specializes in gourmet donuts. Cake by Design was able to put together an amazing section that were both tasty and aesthetically pleasing. There were so many great designs it was hard narrowing it down to just a few. The bakery was able to use the couples wedding colours (navy, gold and pearl white) when creating the design.

The donut wall is a great way to get your guests involved in the night. There were cute and personalized takeaway bags for each guest to take a donut home with them.

Water Front Wedding

Since I moved up here three years ago I had always dreamed of planning a wedding right at the waters edge and with the help of several other people I was able to make this dream a reality. The inspiration behind this shoot was to play of the whimsical elements and the laid back wedding style with an edge.

This style shoot was a fun one and I love being able to collaborate with some inspiring women that are great at what they do.

A lot of couples are moving away from the traditional type of wedding and are really trying to put their own spin on creating something that is uniquely theirs. Brides + Grooms look to create a unique setting by cutting down their guest list, making it a very intimate setting and by bringing in items that are personal to their relationship to enhance the experience.

In this shoot, we wanted to play off a Bohemian vibe while bringing in our own unique flare from being on the Bay. Having our couple go down to the beach and hang out on a pink SUP is not what you would call a traditional style shoot but it totally works.

Anniversary Shoot

My husband and I were looking to do something different for our anniversary and thought a photo shoot with our new puppy Willy would be a great idea. As many of you already know, Willy joined the Twist gang a few months ago and we wanted to get some great shots of him as a little puppy. My husband and I had been going back and forth for years about getting a dog and finally were in the right place in our life that we were able to dedicate the time so we pulled the trigger. He is the perfect dog for the two of us as he is able to play rough with James and snuggle up with me at night. What a joy he brings to our already amazing life!

How Renting Your Bridesmaid Dresses Can Make Your Wedding Planning Easier

bridesmaids_birdesmaidcollingwood_bridesmaidbluemountain_weddings.jpg

The process of picking out bridesmaid dresses has essentially been the same since the beginning of time. Long hours are spent at multiple boutiques searching for a dress that everyone can agree on, then bridesmaids shell out lots of $$$ to purchase and alter it, all while claiming they will “totally wear it again!”. The modern bride has been waiting for the industry to make some much needed changes and the answer is finally here. Rental bridesmaid dresses are changing the game! Here are some reasons how renting your bridesmaid dresses will make your BFFs happier and your wedding planning 10x easier.

Cut costs for your ‘maids

You know how stressful it can be wedding planning on a budget, and your bridesmaids have a budget too. So show them how much you appreciate their unwavering support by helping them save some cash! Renting bridesmaid dresses instead of buying them can save each ‘maid up to 60%. That is some meaningful savings! Your girls will be grateful for your thoughtfulness, and most likely be even more willing to go the extra mile to help you out with your planning.

Mix and match with ease

Want to give your bridesmaids the chance to pick a dress that is comfortable and suits them best? But worried about this messing up your gorgeous, cohesive dream day? Don’t worry, at BridesMade, your bridesmaids can choose from tons of styles that flatter everybody, while you can be certain that the colours are a perfect match! Give your bridesmaids the freedom of choice while eliminating any worry that one girl’s pink will clash with another’s.

Save time and energy

Wedding planning can quickly switch from a joyous experience to an overwhelming nightmare at times. We know that any possible way to save your precious time is valuable! Don’t have time to spend the day hunting for bridesmaid dresses? Are you looking for a more efficient way? Using BridesMade, the whole process takes place online and can be completed in under 30 minutes. FREE colour swatches are sent so you can compare your options in natural lighting, and fit dresses are available so your girls can try on their dresses in the comfort of their own homes before purchasing. The dresses will be delivered straight to your doorstep in advance of the date, pressed and ready to go. The best part of all is that the dresses can be sent straight back once the wedding is over because cleaning is handled by the company. Learn all about how convenient the rental process is here.

Although there may not be one all encompassing way to make wedding planning easier, renting bridesmaid dresses is a simple solution guaranteed to save time and money while also making choosing styles easier!

Birthday Vacation

Birthday Vacation

Going away for my birthday has somewhat become a tradition for my husband and I over the past 5 years. I love travelling to the west coast of Canada as, in my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful places. It has an amazing vibe and some of the most beautiful scenery around. Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE wine - and what's better than spending my birthday travelling to different wineries. After about my third day of drinking, I turned to my husband and said how can anyone get sick of doing wine tasting.  Well, after a full fun day of drinking on my birthday, I woke up to one of the worst hangovers and all I wanted to do was sleep :( There is such a thing as too much wine.

Here are some of my favorite photos.

Tea Party

I love to get the girls together for a tea party! It is a fun way to celebrate with girlfriends in a way that doesn't involve a night of drinking. It brings you back to a simpler time where you aren't looking at the phone every two seconds.  Taking flowers from the garden and adding a couple of special touches makes a magical setting.

I have been collecting tea cups since my teen years and I love that that every teacup tells its own story. What is your favorite memory that revolves aroung tea?

I would rather have nothing but tea

Welcome Willy!

I would like to officially welcome the newest member of the Twist Family - Willy!! The moment I saw him for the first time was so magical that it brought tears to my eyes. I was overjoyed with emotion that is hard to describe (most new dog owners probably know what I am talking about). I believe the same can be said for him as well as he was just as excited to be coming to a new home.

Please enjoy all things Willy below.

European Vacation

I can't believe it has already been 6 months since I got back from my European adventure. A trip my husband and I had been planning since we got back from our honeymoon in Greece. It was hard to decide on what cities we wanted to explore as there are so many we wanted to visit.  We decided on London, Venice, Vienna and Monte Carlo which were all places that I had been dreaming of. It was such a whirlwind with so many amazing experiences - here are just a few of them.

Melissa in Montebello

It is always nice to escape the routine and go on a mini adventure -  and it's hard to find anything better than Montebello! I had seen several images on the web and was amazed at how magical this place looked. It definitely lived up to its expectations. The most beautiful log cabin in the woods took me back to a simplier time.

I also got to check an item off of my bucket list which was dog sledding. It definately created a memory that I will never forget!

New Year, New Goals

New Year, New Goals

If you know anything about me, you know that I am a goal setter. For as long as I can remember I have been setting goals for myself. It is amazing going back on old journals and looking at past goals that at the time seemed so out of reach, now being my real life. Not to say that all my goals haven't come without years of struggles and hardship.

I never thought living in Toronto that my dreams of moving to the country, buying a house and marrying the man on my dreams would happen in my 20's, but they did! Looking into my 30's I am amazed and can't believe all that I have to look forward to.

This year will be the year of self-improvement. I want to be a better version of myself and give back and help other people through my experiences. I hope by doing this it will attract people that would love to do the same.

Holiday Decorating

IMG_1158.JPG

One of my favourite holidays is Christmas. It's a time for friends & families to get together and create memories with each other.

Here are my tips for holiday entertaining:

1. Make use of your current inventory

2. Create a theme - my colours this year are white & silver

3. Love fresh greenery as it creates a different texture and makes the house smell great

4. Have a fully stocked bar filled with your favourites

5. Personalize it - this year I made a personalized gingerbread house

Please share your favourite holiday party memory below for a chance to win a holiday prize pack!! Make sure to add your Instagram user name or e-mail address so I can contact the winner.

xoxo

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

I decided to start a blog so I can share all the fun and exciting things that I am doing! It is going to be a mash up of weddings, events, travel, food and everything that sparkles.

After 5 five long years living and working in Toronto, I needed a lifestyle change. So I decided enough was enough, packed by bags and headed North to Collingwood for a simpler life. Collingwood was a little crazy to most people…who am I kidding…everyone! Moving to the sticks….where is Collingwood?…were just some of the comments that I received. It was a crazy concept for most.

Starting my own events company with no friends or family in the area was, and still is daunting! But there was no way I was going to let that stop me! A quote that I live by everyday is "Design the life you want to live" which is what I set out to do.

Design the life you want to live

I have now been living in Collingwood for two years and haven't looked back. It is still really hard some days but what makes up for it is living in one of the most beautiful places in the Canada.

Look at this blog as a photo journey for everything that inspires me!

xoxo
