Glamping Adventure

Glamping Adventure

I have been dreaming of going glamping for a very long time and this summer my husband surprised me with a mini getaway for our 4th Wedding Anniversary. It was the most beautiful setting for a couples getaway. It was nice to take a step away from the phones and reconnect with nature.

The tent was adorable and glamorous, and the site had many cute little details. One being the outdoor shower & toilet. It might not seem like the most enjoyable experience to be outside when going to the washroom but it was very unique.

The outside kitchen had everything you would need for the perfect outdoor culinary experience.

I love being able to be with my husband and sit around the fire and connect with what is important. Without having the distraction of all the electronics, we spent our evenings playing board games and cards. It really takes you back to a simpler time. If you have been thinking about glamping I would definitely recommend it.

Mexican Adventure

Mexican Adventure

It was such an amazing trip! 10 days in paradise was not enough. This was our eighth time in Mexico and every time we are there we dream of how we could become permanent vacationers (like in the Ben Stiller movie The Heartbreak Kid). It starts when we first touch down and go immediately outside to the airport bar to have the first sips of the margaritas (which always seem to taste the best). Exploring all the quaint little towns and exploring new beaches was a dream come true. Not to mention all the amazing food…octopus tacos, ceviche, shrimp, fish - it was all so good.

I wanted to share some of my favourite photos from my trip! Share some of your favourite spots and memories from traveling to Mexico!

Can’t wait to plan my next trip!

All You Need is Love and Some Donuts

All You Need is Love and Some Donuts

I had my first experience at a wedding, working with a donut wall this past Fall and it was so much fun!!

When I first sat down with the couple it was one the first things we discussed. We were lucky enough to have a groom that was super handy and was able to construct the wall. Then it was finding a great bakery that specializes in gourmet donuts. Cake by Design was able to put together an amazing section that were both tasty and aesthetically pleasing. There were so many great designs it was hard narrowing it down to just a few. The bakery was able to use the couples wedding colours (navy, gold and pearl white) when creating the design.

The donut wall is a great way to get your guests involved in the night. There were cute and personalized takeaway bags for each guest to take a donut home with them.

Water Front Wedding

Water Front Wedding

Since I moved up here three years ago I had always dreamed of planning a wedding right at the waters edge and with the help of several other people I was able to make this dream a reality. The inspiration behind this shoot was to play of the whimsical elements and the laid back wedding style with an edge.

This style shoot was a fun one and I love being able to collaborate with some inspiring women that are great at what they do.

A lot of couples are moving away from the traditional type of wedding and are really trying to put their own spin on creating something that is uniquely theirs. Brides + Grooms look to create a unique setting by cutting down their guest list, making it a very intimate setting and by bringing in items that are personal to their relationship to enhance the experience.

In this shoot, we wanted to play off a Bohemian vibe while bringing in our own unique flare from being on the Bay. Having our couple go down to the beach and hang out on a pink SUP is not what you would call a traditional style shoot but it totally works.

Tea Party

Tea Party

I love to get the girls together for a tea party! It is a fun way to celebrate with girlfriends in a way that doesn't involve a night of drinking. It brings you back to a simpler time where you aren't looking at the phone every two seconds.  Taking flowers from the garden and adding a couple of special touches makes a magical setting.

I have been collecting tea cups since my teen years and I love that that every teacup tells its own story. What is your favorite memory that revolves aroung tea?

I would rather have nothing but tea

Welcome Willy!

Welcome Willy!

I would like to officially welcome the newest member of the Twist Family - Willy!! The moment I saw him for the first time was so magical that it brought tears to my eyes. I was overjoyed with emotion that is hard to describe (most new dog owners probably know what I am talking about). I believe the same can be said for him as well as he was just as excited to be coming to a new home.

Please enjoy all things Willy below.

European Vacation

European Vacation

I can't believe it has already been 6 months since I got back from my European adventure. A trip my husband and I had been planning since we got back from our honeymoon in Greece. It was hard to decide on what cities we wanted to explore as there are so many we wanted to visit.  We decided on London, Venice, Vienna and Monte Carlo which were all places that I had been dreaming of. It was such a whirlwind with so many amazing experiences - here are just a few of them.

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.

Melissa in Montebello

Melissa in Montebello

It is always nice to escape the routine and go on a mini adventure -  and it's hard to find anything better than Montebello! I had seen several images on the web and was amazed at how magical this place looked. It definitely lived up to its expectations. The most beautiful log cabin in the woods took me back to a simplier time.

I also got to check an item off of my bucket list which was dog sledding. It definately created a memory that I will never forget!
